About The Children's Hospital Burn Center
 

The Colorado Firefighter Calendar is produced and created by Fired Up For Kids, a nonprofit organization. Fired Up For Kids donates all proceeds received from special events and sales of Colorado Firefighter Calendar to The Children's Hospital Burn Center.  The burn center is committed to providing the highest standard of burn care to neonates, infants, children, and adolescents up to 21 years of age in the Rocky Mountain region.  To date, Fired Up For Kids has raised more than $375,000. Q: How does Fired Up For Kids raise money for the calendar?
A: Fired Up For Kids raises money for the calendar in two ways. 1) It sells sponsorships that are used to offset design and production costs for the calendar and 2) raises funds through calendar sales and special events like the celebrity judging event, the debut event and firefighter calendar signing events.

Q: What are the proceeds used for?
A: The Burn Center uses the proceeds from the calendar for patient care, education, equipment, community involvement and endowment funds.

Q: Who volunteers for Fired Up For Kids and why?
A: Fired Up For Kids' volunteers and firefighters from all over the state of Colorado donate many hours of their time each year to raise awareness about and money for The Children's Hospital Burn Center.

For volunteers, it's an opportunity to work with a fun and very energetic group of successful men and women where they can bring various areas of expertise to help enable the calendar's success. Areas of expertise include, marketing, public relations, events and sales.

For firefighters, being involved with Fired Up For Kids and the calendar is their way to help the children who have been burned or hurt in a fire. Firefighters represent one of the noblest professions, and this calendar is a tribute to them-as well as the children they help every day.

A: Almost $375,000.

A: The organization's mission is raise funds for the Children's Hospital Burn Center and work with a network of volunteers to ensure the calendar's production and distribution as an annual event.

Q: Who's in charge of Fired Up For Kids?
A: The organization is headed by Kirsten Hamling and a group of volunteers who oversee up specific areas:

The nonprofit organization has been formed to work exclusively with The Children's Hospital of Denver to produce, design, promote and sell the Colorado Firefighter Calendar.


The Photographer and The Designers

 

The calendar's success is due in part to the photography and design of the calendar.

Bruce Boyer is the calendar's photographer for 2009 and through his lens, the firefighter photos have retained a professional, yet appealing image to for the consumer.

Nicole Corder is responsible for the creative design for the 2009 calendar.
